A court in Kyiv has extended the detention of a Belarusian citizen suspected of espionage, Inna Kardash.
According to Radio Svaboda, citing sources, the detention has been extended until June 14. Earlier, a court decision extended the pre-trial investigation period until June 20.
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) and military intelligence (HUR) reported the detention of Kardash on January 27. The SBU said she had been cooperating with the KGB since 2015. She worked for Medvedchuk’s TV channel “112” and at Interfax Ukraine.
In 2020, Belarusian security services sent Kardash to work in Ukraine. Her assignment included collecting information on Belarusians and Russians who assist Ukraine. She was also tasked with establishing contacts with employees of the Chinese embassy in Ukraine to gather intelligence on the activities of Chinese diplomats in the country.
In 2025, she took a job at the HUR Coordination Centre for Prisoner of War Affairs, where she collected official information by photographing documents and recording staff conversations. The data were then passed to Belarus.
