The State Control Committee inspected a sports institution in Brest Region and uncovered the unlawful payment of staff bonuses.
The institution had overdue accounts payable. Under Belarusian law, staff bonuses may not be paid in such circumstances. Nevertheless, employees received bonuses totalling more than 140,000 Belarusian roubles.
“In addition, the institution failed to fully reimburse the budget for expenses incurred in providing paid services. Instead of using the revenue generated to cover the budget’s utility costs, the funds were used to pay employee bonuses. In total, more than 700,000 Belarusian roubles were not reimbursed to the budget,” the State Control Committee said.
The inspection also identified violations of legislation governing public procurement and the management of state property.
Fourteen employees of the institution were held accountable. Measures have been taken to recover the unlawfully spent funds. Budget financing for the institution has been restricted by the amount of the unreimbursed expenses.
