Belarus is hosting children of participants in Russia’s war against Ukraine from Russia’s Tula Region for summer holidays. According to information published by tula.mk.ru, around 1,800 such children are spending time at Belarusian holiday camps in 2026.
The children are staying at the Svitanak, Sluch, Kolas, Zhdanovichi and Zhemchuzhina camps. Excursions and cultural activities have been organised for them.
Tula Region Governor Dmitry Milyayev said that around 6,000 children would spend holidays at Belarusian camps this year at the expense of the regional budget, according to Pervy Tulskiy.
As the Tula Region government states, special attention is being given to the children of participants in Russia’s war against Ukraine. They are sent on holiday to other regions of Russia and to Belarus. This summer, 1,577 children from the families of servicemen involved in the war have already spent time at holiday camps, including those in Belarus. A further 350 children are expected to leave for the fourth session.
Belarus is also hosting children from areas of Tula Region affected by the Chornobyl disaster.
“More than 200 schoolchildren from Chornobyl-affected districts will additionally travel to the Black Sea coast and to the Republic of Belarus,” the regional government said.
The Tula Region Ministry of Education reported in June that 107 children had travelled to the Svitanak camp and 177 children to Zhemchuzhina.
