Training sessions were held at Internal Troops military unit 7404 of the Interior Ministry with “instructors who have experience taking part in modern armed conflicts.” It was not specified when or in which conflicts they gained this experience.
The Internal Troops said the training involved the 2nd and 3rd separate rifle battalions. Attention was paid to proper magazine changes and selecting firing positions, the procedure for handling weapons during a sudden encounter with an adversary, as well as assuming firing positions and moving on the battlefield.
“Another aspect covered was practicing small-group tactics, including during building assaults. The servicemen also accurately hit targets with Makarov pistols and Kalashnikov assault rifles”, the statement said.
It is worth recalling that following Yevgeny Prigozhin’s mutiny, some Wagner PMC fighters were moved to Belarus. At the time, it was also reported that they were training Belarusian servicemen, and some of the fighters even joined Belarusian units. Throughout 2024, Belarusian security agencies regularly reported training sessions involving “Wagner fighters.” However, references to “Wagner fighters” later stopped.
