The National Bank of Belarus has published data on foreign trade in goods and services for January–September. In September, the foreign trade deficit continued to grow amid faster import expansion.
Exports of goods and services for the nine months increased by 0.7% to USD 37.32 billion. Imports grew by 2.1% to USD 38.16 billion. The foreign trade deficit in goods and services rose 2.7 times compared with the same period last year, reaching USD 840.8 million. Compared with January–August, it increased by USD 124.2 million.
According to the National Bank, goods exports in January–September fell by 3% to USD 28.92 billion, while goods imports rose by 1% to USD 32.8 billion. The goods trade deficit amounted to USD 3.88 billion — 44.8% higher than a year earlier.
Exports of services rose by 15.6% to USD 8.4 billion over the nine months. Imports grew by 9.5% to USD 5.36 billion. The services trade surplus reached USD 3.04 billion, an increase of 28.2% from last year.
