Krutoi: Negligent Workers Will Be Sent to Military Training for Two to Three Months

Workers found to have committed violations during the harvest campaign will be placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Defence for two to three months. Health-related restrictions will not be taken into account, Head of the Presidential Administration Dzmitry Krutoi said during a meeting at the Asipovichy District Executive Committee.

According to Krutoi, lists of negligent workers will be compiled by organisation heads, district executive committee chairpersons and military commissars. The lists will include “careless workers, repeat offenders, thieves, drunkards, idlers and slackers.”

“The chairperson of the district executive committee, the military commissar and the head of the agricultural organisation will draw up lists of negligent workers who have committed violations, misconduct or other offences. These people will be placed at the disposal of the Ministry of Defence.”, Krutoi explained.

The format of their service will be determined by the minister of defence. It may involve military-patriotic training exercises or military training camps. Neither age nor health status will be taken into account.

“The duration will be two to three months. That is exactly how long the harvest lasts in the country. There will be no age restrictions. Military occupational specialties, the job they previously held, or health limitations that apply during the regular conscription campaign will not apply here. There will be separate conditions and separate criteria.”, BelTA quoted Krutoi as saying.

After instruction and preparation, those found at fault will be sent to military units. There they will be able to begin service, including carrying out хозяйственные duties.

“As our minister has said, in the army, besides military training and actual military operations and exercises, there is a great deal of хозяйственная and routine work. There will also be an element of physical training, so these people will certainly have plenty to do and will provide a benefit to society.”, Krutoi said.

Mahiliou Region Military Commissar Maksim Vlasau warned that the service would not feel like a holiday.

“They will experience all the delights of military service.”, he promised.

Military commissars plan to visit agricultural organisations to identify negligent workers as early as this Saturday.

Krutoi warned that the chairperson of the district executive committee would bear responsibility for poor performance in the district.

“The chairperson of the regional executive committee is responsible for organising the harvest across the region, as the President clearly stated yesterday, while the chairperson of the district executive committee is the key figure on the ground. If the district fails, it is the district chairperson who will be held accountable.”, he said.

On July 21, Aliaksandr Lukashenka ordered that everyone who performs poorly during the harvest campaign be sent to the army. Defence Minister Viktar Khrenin said today that negligent workers would be sent to military training camps, where they would improve their combat skills. He stressed that they would not be subjected to “re-education”.
