Emergency Ministry Reports Consequences of Squally Winds in Belarus

The Emergency Situations Ministry is dealing with the aftermath of squally winds in Minsk, Vitsyebsk, Mahiliou and Hrodna regions.

In Minsk Region, rescuers were called out 13 times to cut up fallen trees. In Zhodzina, a tree damaged a passenger car.

In Vitsyebsk Region, assistance in clearing fallen trees was required 11 times. In Chashniki, the wind damaged the roof of a multi-storey residential building.

In Mahiliou, Emergency Ministry personnel removed 20 fallen trees and also helped dismantle metal structures from a building canopy.

In Hrodna Region, rescuers were called out three times to cut up fallen trees.

In some cases, fallen trees damaged power lines. In Minsk Region, more than 200 settlements were left without electricity, while in Vitsyebsk Region power supply disruptions affected 74 settlements.
