Human Remains Found Under Church Floor in Haradok District

Experts from the State Forensic Examination Committee are to examine human remains discovered during the reconstruction of the Church of the Ascension, built in the 19th century. The remains were found by workers carrying out work at the church in Haradok District.

The remains were located in a layer of sand fill beneath the concrete base of the floor.

“An investigative team, including a specialist from the Vitsyebsk Interdistrict Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee, attended the scene. In accordance with procedural requirements, the scene was documented and bone fragments were seized,” the committee said.

Experts are to determine how long ago the person was buried, their sex and approximate age, as well as examine the possibility of obtaining a DNA profile for identification and assess signs of possible injuries or pathological changes.
