Belarus and Georgia Discuss Freight Rail Transport and Railcar Supplies

A working meeting was held in Minsk between head of Belarusian Railways Valery Varenich and Director General of Georgian Railways Lasha Abashidze, the Belarusian Railways press service reported.

The sides discussed the organisation of freight transport on the Belarus–Georgia–Belarus route and the development of competitive tariff conditions. The Georgian side confirmed its readiness to purchase Belarusian railway products, in particular freight railcars produced by the Mahiliou Railcar Plant and the Asipovichy Transport Engineering Plant.

As part of the visit, the Georgian delegation plans to visit the Belarusian Railways transportation management centre, familiarise itself with developments by the Belarusian Railways design and technical centre, and inspect the production facilities of the Minsk Railcar Repair Plant, the Barysau Sleeper Impregnation Plant and two railcar manufacturing enterprises.
