Alyaksandr Lukashenka has signed a decree allowing Belarusian women to undergo two free IVF attempts.

“The document has been adopted as part of the ongoing state support program for IVF and provides for expanded access to assisted reproductive technologies for women wishing to become mothers,” Lukashenka’s press service reported.

Belarusian women will be able to use two free IVF attempts subject to several conditions.

The woman must be no older than 40. She must have medical indications and no contraindications for the procedure.

If the first free IVF attempt is successful and results in the birth of a child, the woman has the right to a second attempt funded by the state up to the age of 49.

Both married and unmarried women will be eligible to use two free IVF attempts.

IVF procedures will be carried out in state healthcare institutions, the list of which is determined by the Council of Ministers.

The main provisions of the decree will come into force three months after its official publication.
