Павел Северинец после освобождения в декабре 2025 г.
A criminal case has been opened against Belarusian politician and former political prisoner Pavel Seviaryniec. He reported this on his Facebook page.
According to Seviaryniec, the case is linked to Freedom Day — a holiday marked annually by Belarusians on March 25, the anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian Democratic Republic in 1918. He served as chair of the organising committee for the celebrations.
The politician also said that his apartment in Vitsyebsk had been searched. No further details have been provided regarding the nature of the charges or Seviaryniec’s procedural status.
Following his release and forced expulsion from Belarus, Pavel Seviaryniec now lives in Vilnius.
Freedom Day is traditionally accompanied by events and actions organised by Belarusian democratic forces both inside the country and abroad. In recent years, the Belarusian authorities have regularly prosecuted participants and organisers of events connected with the date.
