A criminal case has been opened in Belarus against the management of one of the country’s largest taxi companies on charges of tax evasion, the Interior Ministry reported. The company employs more than 800 drivers.

“The director, who is also the owner of the transport company, along with his assistant, in 2024–2025 evaded tax payments by issuing drivers’ salaries ‘in envelopes’ under the guise of compensation for the use of vehicles and expenses for ‘business needs.’ At the same time, the taxable base was reduced through fictitious increases in fuel costs,” the ministry said, outlining the investigation’s version.

According to the authorities, four managers and the company’s chief accountant assisted the suspects.

“The total amount of unpaid taxes amounted to nearly 800,000 rubles. The illicitly cashed profits were spent on purchasing real estate,” the ministry added.

Assets belonging to those involved have been seized. The case is being investigated under an article related to failure to fulfil the duties of a tax agent.
