The Council of Ministers has approved the State Program “Physical Culture and Sport” for 2026–2030.
According to the government’s press service, it includes two subprograms:
- “Active Lifestyle” (aimed at developing physical culture)
- “Training of Sports Reserves and Elite Athletes” (aimed at developing sport)
The total funding for the state program over five years is planned at 8.43 billion rubles.
The following target indicators have been set for 2030:
- the share of people engaged in physical culture and sport in the total population — 35%;
- overall team ranking at major international multi-sport events (CIS Games, BRICS Sports Games) — no lower than fourth place;
- utilization of physical culture and sports facilities (by attendance and by time of use) — 89.6% and 92.3% respectively;
- the number of people who have met the standards set under the GTO program — at least 64,500 people;
- the number of physical fitness and wellness groups for people with disabilities and physically weakened individuals established within physical culture and sports organizations — at least 100;
- the number of constructed physical fitness and wellness facilities, multifunctional complexes, and swimming pools — at least 31;
- the provision of agrotowns with comprehensive sports grounds — at least 30%;
- the number of medals (first to third places) at the Olympic Games, world and European championships, cups, and junior championships in Olympic disciplines — at least 300;
- the number of athletes who have met the qualification standards for the awarding of the sports titles “Master of Sport of the Republic of Belarus, International Class” and “Master of Sport of the Republic of Belarus” — at least 3,800.
