Coordination Council Elections: 175 Candidates Compete For 80 Seats

The Coordination Council announced the completion of the document submission stage for participation in the elections to the fourth convocation of the Coordination Council. The election commission has summed up the preliminary results.

Applications were received from nine electoral lists. A total of 175 candidates are competing for 80 seats, meaning there are more than two candidates per seat.

Two lists have already been registered: “European Choice” led by Valery Matskevich — 17 people, and “Law and Order” led by Syarhei Makar — 12 people.

Another seven lists are undergoing document verification:

  • the Latushka coalition and the “For Freedom” movement — 38 people (leaders Pavel Latushka and Yury Hubarevich);
  • the “Volia” movement — 28 people (leader Nikita Zabuga);
  • “United Civic Platform” — 22 people (leader Mikalai Kazlou);
  • “Your Voice” — 20 people (leader Andrei Kolas);
  • “Enough Fear!” — 13 people (leader Tatsiana Martynava);
  • “Nastup” — 13 people (leader Lizaveta Prakopchyk);
  • the Belarusian Political Prisoners Bloc “Belarusy Dzejannia” — 12 people (leader Yuras Ziankovich).

The Coordination Council elections will take place on 11-17 May.
