U.S. presidential envoy John Coale has promised further releases of political prisoners in Belarus. He made the remark in response to a post by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya on X marking the anniversary of the release of 14 political prisoners, including her husband, Siarhei Tsikhanouski.

“A year ago, I embraced my beloved husband Siarhei Tsikhanouski after five long years of separation. I want every family of every political prisoner in Belarus to experience the same joy. I am deeply grateful to everyone who helped make his release possible, especially John Coale and Chris Smith,” the Belarusian opposition leader wrote.

Coale reposted the message and replied: “There will be more!”

Earlier this month, Coale said that the process of securing the release of Belarusian political prisoners had not stopped. He also indicated that he could soon appear in Minsk.
