The Prosecutor’s Office of Minsk’s Kastrychnitski District reviewed a complaint filed by a Minsk resident against a ruling imposing an administrative penalty for speeding. A car-sharing operator was found to have played a role in the case.
In October last year, a vehicle belonging to a car-sharing service was recorded exceeding the speed limit. On the Minsk Ring Road, where the speed limit was 90 km/h, the vehicle was travelling at 122 km/h.
The authority conducting the administrative proceedings requested information about the driver from the car-sharing service. The company provided data on the basis of which the Minsk woman was held administratively liable.
In reality, she had not exceeded the speed limit. Although the woman had indeed used the vehicle on that day, it was at a different time. The prosecutor’s office conducted a review and filed a protest against the administrative penalty decision. The protest was upheld and the complainant’s rights were restored.
Prosecutors also sent a letter to the car-sharing operator. An employee of the service was subsequently subjected to disciplinary action.
