Belarusian Solidarity Center in Warsaw to Assist Released Political Prisoners

The Belarusian Solidarity Center (CBS) in Warsaw has announced its readiness to provide comprehensive and practical assistance to former Belarusian political prisoners and their families who will be forced to arrive in Poland.

The organization emphasizes that release is only the beginning of the journey.

There are new challenges ahead: emigration, legalization, recovery after trauma. That is why we would like to become one of the pillars that former political prisoners can rely on, the CBS said.

The Center plans to provide assistance in several areas. In particular, this includes organizing temporary accommodation after arrival in Poland, including help with hotel placement. The CBS legal department will support former political prisoners with issues of legal stay, document processing, and navigating the Polish legal system.

Offline Polish language groups will also open at the Center in Warsaw, while online courses will be available for those living outside the capital. Special attention will be given to supporting families and children: children of former political prisoners will be able to immediately join the CBS supplementary education school, where Polish and English language classes, art therapy, psychological support, and other programs will be available.

Psychological support will be a separate area of work. The CBS employs a psychologist, and additional specialists will be involved if needed for individual consultations and group support.

In addition, the Belarusian Solidarity Center in Warsaw will be open as a safe and accessible space where people can work, meet others, have coffee or tea, and not remain alone with their difficulties.

The organization stresses that it helps all Belarusians in forced emigration, but former political prisoners remain an unconditional priority regardless of when they arrived in Poland.
