Belarusian extreme athlete Olga Naumova has set a world record by performing a sky-surfing jump from an altitude of 20,945 feet (about 6,380 metres) above Everest. The achievement entered the Guinness World Records as the highest sky-surfing jump in history, UPI reported.
The jump was carried out from a helicopter near the settlement of Syangboche (Nepal). Naumova exited the aircraft at the record altitude, maintained control of the board during free fall, opened her parachute and successfully landed at 12,356 feet (about 3,765 metres).
The athlete has been practising this extreme sport for about 15 years.
“Since I discovered sky surfing, my dream was to make a unique parachute jump and inspire girls around the world not to be afraid to be brave and dream big,” Naumova told Guinness World Records.
