Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence has described a scheme for supplying fuel from India to Russia. According to the Ukrainian side, vessels from the shadow fleet are involved.
The report concerns supplies from Indian company Nayara Energy, in which Rosneft owns a 49.13% stake.
On June 20, the shadow fleet tanker Agni loaded 67,500 tonnes of petroleum products from Nayara Energy and headed for the Mediterranean Sea, where it met another shadow fleet tanker, Garnet, west of Port Said. The petroleum products were transferred from one vessel to the other.
After the operation, Garnet continued its voyage, reporting that it was sailing in ballast, although this was not the case. The tanker has already passed through the Strait of Gibraltar. Officially, it is heading for the port of Vitino in the White Sea or one of the ports in the Baltic Sea.
According to Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, Garnet is owned by Seychelles-based Shantal Navigation, which in turn is linked to Russia’s Sovcomflot.
