Polish tax service officers detained two vehicles transporting counterfeit accessories for cigarette production. They were stopped upon entry from Lithuania at the Polish-Lithuanian border, the tax and customs chamber in Białystok reports.
One of the vehicles was driven by a 49-year-old Belarusian citizen. In the trailer, officers found 2 million cardboard cigarette packs and nearly 500 rolls of cork tipping paper for filters bearing the trademark of a well-known tobacco brand.
In the second vehicle, driven by a 37-year-old Romanian citizen, officers discovered 3.6 million counterfeit cardboard cigarette packs.
The total value of the illegal goods is estimated at more than 1 million zlotys ($275,000). The goods were seized and placed in storage. The truck drivers were questioned.
