The State Customs Committee of Belarus has announced the start of the return of Lithuanian trucks that have been held at special parking sites since November last year.

As a reminder, on Friday Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that the return process would begin on Monday.

According to the committee, Lukashenka reviewed appeals from Lithuanian and Polish transport companies and “made a decision to allow the departure of freight vehicles with Lithuanian registration.”

“At present, more than 1,900 vehicles are located at specially equipped sites, including tractor units, trailers, and semi-trailers,” the statement said.

Vehicles will be allowed to leave Belarus via the Lithuanian direction. At the same time, trucks with Lithuanian registration but фактически owned by Polish companies will also be able to exit via the Polish direction.

“Customs authorities have begun work. As carriers pay for storage — now several times lower than previously set — vehicles will be able to depart.

The дальнейшая speed of border crossing depends on the actions of the Lithuanian side. Today, the State Customs Committee sent a proposal to the Lithuanian customs service to increase the throughput of trucks,” the committee added.
