At the National Security. Belarus 2026 forum, the Belarusian company Bronya presented a fragmentation-resistant vest and poncho for children. The products are made of aramid fabric, provide Br2-level protection and weigh about 3 kilograms each, TASS reported.
The items resemble ordinary children’s clothing with colourful designs. According to a company representative, this was done to avoid frightening children.
“This is a children’s vest and a children’s poncho. They are used to evacuate children from the epicentre of combat operations in order to provide at least minimal protection from shrapnel, because most injuries now are caused by fragments and drones,” he said at the company’s stand.
The company sends the products to Russia as humanitarian aid, including to Belgorod, a border city that regularly comes under attack as a result of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“We chose this design so that children would not be frightened. When military personnel put army body armour on children, it causes fear. To avoid traumatising children, we use a child-friendly design,” the representative added.
