A total of 9,600 new passenger cars were sold in Belarus in July 2026. That was 30% more than in June and 18.5% more than in May, the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA) reported.
“July’s figures show that the new car market is developing significantly faster than previously expected. Following the decline in June, sales not only recovered but reached a new monthly high for this year. The main drivers of growth remain locally produced vehicles and the electric vehicle segment,” the BAA said.
Belgee set a new sales record. A total of 5,300 Belgee and Geely vehicles were sold during the month, nearly 25% more than the previous record set in May.
Belgee and Geely vehicles accounted for more than 55% of Belarus’ entire new passenger car market in July.
The Unison automobile plant sold 596 vehicles in July, accounting for about 6.2% of the new passenger car market.
“As a result, sales by the country’s second automobile plant are no longer a niche factor and have become a noticeable element of market development. Combined, vehicles sold by the two Belarusian automobile plants accounted for more than 61% of the July market,” the BAA said.
Electric vehicle sales rebounded after declining in June. A total of 3,500 new electric vehicles were sold in July, up 46% from the previous month.
“It is clear that the new passenger car market has every chance of surpassing the 70,000 mark this year, setting an all-time record since the market was established in the country.
The market has been driven by rapidly expanding consumer lending for domestically produced vehicles, low electric vehicle prices, and strong demand for EVs ahead of the expected exhaustion of the duty-free import quota.
At the same time, the market share of passenger cars imported from the Russian Federation continues to decline, as do sales of imported hybrid vehicles,” said Siarhei Varyvoda, head of Avtotsentr na MKAD LLC and a member of the BAA board.
