Belarus and Sri Lanka Discuss Visa-Free Travel and Direct Air Links

Belarus and Sri Lanka are discussing the introduction of a visa-free regime and direct air links. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry reported this following meetings held by Belarus’s ambassador Mikhail Kasko at Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation.

Kasko held a meeting with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath.

“Current issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed, including cooperation in education, the organization of regular flights, and the possible introduction of a visa-free regime for Belarusian citizens,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The talks also covered the organization of a visit by Sri Lanka’s foreign minister to Belarus.

The issue of air links was raised during a meeting with Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku.

“The importance of the swift signing of an Air Services Agreement between Belarus and Sri Lanka was noted, which would make it possible to establish direct regular air links between the two countries,” the Foreign Ministry added.
