Andrei Shved Appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

Former Prosecutor General Andrei Shved was elected Chair of the Supreme Court of Belarus at the second session of the 7th All-Belarusian People’s Assembly.

Shved was appointed Prosecutor General in September 2020. He is subject to individual international sanctions imposed by the European Union, the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, and Ukraine.

Andrei Shved has spoken out against amnesty for people subjected to political repression. In February 2023, he headed the commission on returning.
