Zelenskyy: We Appreciate Every Expression of Support From Belarusians

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine supports the Belarusian people’s aspiration to free themselves from Russian interference and expressed confidence that the two countries would one day have good-neighborly relations based on genuine independence from Moscow. He made the remarks during today’s meeting with head of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.

“We all support the aspiration of the Belarusian people to free themselves from Russian interference, and we know that Russia is now trying to drag Belarus even deeper into this war against Ukraine. And we appreciate every expression of support from Belarusians toward a free Ukraine,” the Ukrainian leader said.

Zelenskyy noted Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s position regarding the responsibility of the regime of Aliaksandr Lukashenka for Russia’s war against Ukraine since 2022 due to the use of Belarusian territory for the ground offensive, missile launches, and the deployment of Russian weapons.

“Ukraine has never been a threat to Belarus. And we are grateful to those Belarusians who are now on Ukraine’s side, at a time when the fate of both our independence and the independence of every nation bordering Russia is being decided,” the presidential press service quoted him as saying.
