The exchange of information on upcoming goods deliveries was discussed at a meeting between Chairman of the Belarusian State Customs Committee Uladzimir Arlouski and head of Russia’s Federal Customs Service Valery Pikalyov.
“The heads focused on the electronic exchange of information on goods transported across the Belarusian-Russian section of the border, including information on upcoming deliveries, which will help prevent risks of legal violations during their transportation,” the State Customs Committee said in a statement.
The parties also discussed the development of technological systems and the automation of controls. The meeting took place as part of a joint inspection of the Belarusian-Russian border.
Russia introduced a system for reporting upcoming goods deliveries on July 1. Russian importers must notify the tax authorities in advance of planned goods imports and provide security for tax payments.
