Prosecutors Find “Extremist” Document Covers on Ozon

The Baranavichy prosecutor’s office found document covers featuring the Pahonia coat of arms on the Ozon online marketplace. The seller was ordered to remove the product from sale.

“In particular, the seller was offering a set of document covers featuring white-red-white stripes and a white horseman on a red background, riding a horse and holding a sword and shield,” the Brest Region prosecutor’s office said, noting that such images have been designated “extremist materials” in Belarus.

The prosecutor’s office believes that covers featuring the Pahonia coat of arms could be sold to “an unspecified circle of people,” including young people, and that this could “negatively affect civic and patriotic education and the development of spiritual and moral values, civic awareness and patriotism among young people.”

The head of the online store was issued an order requiring the immediate removal of the “extremist” covers from sale. The order was fully complied with.
