Wildberries Fast-Tracks Construction of Logistics Center in Great Stone

Russian marketplace Wildberries is rapidly completing construction of its logistics center in the Great Stone Industrial Park near Minsk. The first sections of the complex are already operational. Kiryl Karatseyeu, First Deputy Director General for the development of the industrial park, said this in an interview with Belarusian television.

“The first sections of the logistics center have already begun operations. Construction is not just on schedule but ahead of schedule because, unfortunately, the circumstances currently developing in the Russian Federation are forcing the investor to build faster, as quickly as possible, in order to put the entire facility into operation,” he said.

Since July 18, Ukraine’s Armed Forces have carried out a series of strikes on Wildberries’ logistics facilities in Russia. Sites in more than 10 Russian regions have already come under attack. Several large warehouses have been completely destroyed in fires caused by drone strikes. Russian media have reported that Wildberries plans to use warehouse facilities in Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for the long-term storage of goods.

“At present, the company is recruiting and training staff. Specialists from the Russian Federation who have participated in the commissioning and launch of more than one such facility have arrived. They are now working with our Belarusian employees, training them and identifying those who have the potential to grow into management positions. So this process is also underway to ensure that, immediately after construction and installation work is completed, the center can begin full-scale operations without interruption,” Karatseyeu added.
