Security Forces in Vitsyebsk Check People Listed in the “Riots” Database

In Vitsyebsk, police officers are visiting people who were previously held liable over the 2020 protests and are listed in the “Riots” database, Viasna Vitsyebsk reports.

The security forces are checking registered addresses and mobile phones. Human rights defenders are aware of several cases in which the inspections were followed by administrative charges for the “distribution of extremist materials” (Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offences).

The “Riots” database was created by the security forces after the 2020 protests. It contains information on people who were detained, as well as on identified participants in the protests.
