On March 25, 2026, marking the 108th anniversary of Freedom Day, the façade of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw will be illuminated in the colors of the national flag of Belarus. This was stated in a reply from Warsaw City Hall to an appeal by Deputy Head of the United Transitional Cabinet and Head of the National Anti-Crisis Management Pavel Latushka, who had made the corresponding request.
“In response to the request, we confirm that we will illuminate the façade of the Palace of Culture and Science in the colors of a free Belarus,” the press service of the United Transitional Cabinet quoted from the city hall’s letter.
In his letter, Latushka thanked Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski for his consistent support of the democratic aspirations of Belarusians, as well as for the assistance Warsaw provides to Belarusians forced to leave their homeland for political reasons.
He reminded city officials that on March 25 Belarusians will mark the 108th anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian People’s Republic, a holiday known as Freedom Day.
“We confirm our solidarity with the Belarusian democratic movement and are pleased that Freedom Day will also be marked in Warsaw,” the city hall said in its response.
“I thank Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, the city administration, and the residents of the Polish capital for their support of Belarusians who continue to fight for freedom for our homeland. The fact that our national colors will once again shine in the Polish capital is an important gesture of solidarity. Poland’s support for our activities once again underscores the neighboring country’s commitment to democratic values and solidarity with Belarusian society,” Latushka said.
