Poland Does Not Plan to Expand Traffic at Crossings With Belarus

Poland does not plan to expand cross-border traffic options at crossings with Belarus. This was stated by Poland’s Minister of the Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński. He was asked whether it was possible to open freight traffic through the Kuźnica–Bruzgi crossing.

“As for the issue of border crossings and freight traffic, we are constantly monitoring our border traffic with Belarus. You know very well that we also made decisions to close these border checkpoints for security reasons.

We have opened new border crossings in the Podlasie region, and if all security issues, including those related to the Ministry of Infrastructure, allow for expanding functionality — forgive the expression — then we will consider it, but for now this is not on the agenda,” he said.

It should be recalled that in November Poland opened two border crossings with Belarus. The Kuźnica–Bruzgi crossing was opened only for passenger traffic, including buses, while Bobrowniki–Berastavitsa was opened for both passenger and freight traffic.
