Valfovich Accuses Ukraine of Drone Incursions Into Belarus

Belarusian State Secretary of the Security Council Aliaksandr Valfovich said that Belarusian airspace had been violated 116 times by drones coming from Ukraine.

“Every day, our air defence systems record regular crossings of the Belarus-Ukraine border by combat UAVs and their crashes on our territory. In some cases, these are not accidental incursions but attempts to strike elements of border infrastructure under the guise of unintended crossings. In the last week alone, there were 116 such incidents. Duty forces were deployed against them 59 times”, he said at a meeting of the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils in Moscow, BelTA reported.

At the same time, Valfovich rejected the existence of threats to Ukraine from Belarus.

“The Kyiv regime and its European allies understand that the U.S. administration under Trump is bogged down in the Middle East conflict and has already lost interest in supporting their efforts toward further escalation of the military conflict in Ukraine. Therefore, they are looking for increasingly sophisticated ways to continue it. To intimidate the Ukrainian people and justify unpopular forced mobilisation measures, Zelenskyy constantly makes provocative statements about threats allegedly coming from Belarus. But the facts suggest otherwise. It is the actions of Ukrainian nationalists that pose a threatening character”, he said.

He also said that Belarus shares concerns related to challenges and threats to collective security.

“The comprehensive assessment of the situation across all regions of collective security that we conduct during our annual meetings allows us to conclude that each year global and regional developments — not only in the CSTO area of responsibility but across the entire Eurasian space — are becoming more complex and require difficult decisions. The organisation secretary general’s assessment confirms this. The Belarusian side fully shares concerns related to challenges and threats to the collective security of member states. And we observe that risks along the CSTO borders continue to grow”, he said.
