Aliaksandr Bahdanovich Re-Elected as Head of Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation

The Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation (BIHF) held its reporting and election conference in Minsk, where Aliaksandr Bahdanovich was re-elected as chairman of the organisation for a new four-year term.

Bahdanovich has headed the BIHF since 2021. At the conference, he presented a report on the federation’s work over the past season.

Participants also reviewed the results of the hockey year. In addition, the BIHF recalled that following a decision by the congress of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Belarus’ junior national team (under 18), as well as the women’s senior and junior national teams, will be allowed to compete in world championships from the 2026/27 season.

“Ahead of our teams’ return to the international arena, a great deal of work lies ahead in preparing them and planning competitive practice. I would also like to thank the Association members for their trust and for the opportunity to continue developing hockey in our country as federation chairman, but I understand that this means even higher demands on myself and on our future work”, Bahdanovich said.

As the BIHF reported, plans for the next season were outlined at the conference. The federation said it intended to continue working on developing the domestic championship, training young hockey players, developing women’s hockey and changing the format of the junior Federation Cup.
