The United States will lift sanctions on Lida-based OJSC Lakokraska, as well as the Bellesbumprom concern, U.S. President’s Special Envoy John Coale said. At the same time, 25 people in Belarus will be released.
“As a gesture of goodwill, Belarus will release 25 people. The United States, in turn, will lift sanctions on two Belarusian companies — Lakokraska and Bellesbumprom,” BELTA quoted Coale as saying.
He also noted that significant progress had been made during talks with Aliaksandr Lukashenka.
“It is a great pleasure to be in this country once again. We held our negotiations for a very long time. These negotiations will continue. We have made a great deal of progress, from my perspective. And we will continue our joint work,” Coale said.
“We agreed on an interim agreement, an understanding,” he added.
Tsikhanouskaya’s adviser Franak Viačorka has already reported the start of the release of political prisoners.
