Ukrainian Border Guards Do Not Observe Troop Movements Near Belarusian Border

Ukrainian border guards do not observe the movement of equipment or a buildup of troops on Belarusian territory near the Ukrainian border. This was stated by State Border Guard Service of Ukraine spokesperson Andrii Demchenko, Ukrinform reported.

“There is no buildup of troops. Since 2022, Belarus has maintained its units in certain directions, stating that this is to strengthen its own security, as it expects some actions from Ukraine, although Ukraine has never threatened Belarus and does not plan to take such actions. Therefore, there are units that Belarus had already kept in the direction of our border. They carry out rotations and movements, but there is no increase even in these units,” he said.

Demchenko also clarified that Russia does not currently maintain large forces on Belarusian territory, including infantry units capable of carrying out a renewed invasion from Belarusian territory. At the same time, he did not rule out possible provocations aimed at diverting Ukrainian forces to this direction, as well as the possibility of Russian troop redeployment to Belarus at any moment.

The situation on Belarusian territory is closely monitored by intelligence units, the Ministry of Defense, and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, he added.
