Ukrainian State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko called absurd the statement by Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Aliaksandr Valfovich claiming that 116 Ukrainian drones had allegedly crossed the Belarusian border last week.
“There were many absurd words about the situation in Ukraine and claims that their air defense systems daily record regular crossings of the border with our country by combat UAVs. Only over the past week they supposedly ‘counted’ 116. My question is — how much restraint did they have to show to stay silent about such ‘provocations’ by Ukrainians. Moreover, their air defense systems apparently can only detect Ukrainian devices, because for some reason they do not detect what flies into Ukraine from Belarus,” he said, as quoted by Ukrainska Pravda.
Earlier, during a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the CSTO in Moscow, Aliaksandr Valfovich stated that Belarusian airspace had been violated 116 times by drones from Ukraine over the past week.
“Every day our air defense systems record regular crossings of the Belarus-Ukraine border by combat UAVs and their crashes on our territory. In some cases these are not accidental incidents, but attempts to strike elements of border infrastructure under the guise of supposedly accidental incursions. There were 116 such cases over the past week alone. Duty forces were deployed against them 59 times,” he said.
