Ukraine Plans Reform of Foreign Recruitment for Armed Forces

Ukraine is planning to reform the system for recruiting foreign nationals into the Armed Forces and the National Guard. The issue was discussed at a meeting chaired by the head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov with lawmakers and military officials.

The reform предусматривает the creation of a unified recruitment centre for foreign citizens.

“The decision is long overdue — and colleagues agreed — that the country needs a single centre for recruiting foreigners. This body will provide a full support cycle: from selection and logistics to professional training, communication and support during service,” Budanov said.

The mechanism for establishing the centre, a comprehensive recruitment programme and the necessary legislative changes are to be developed by the end of May.
