Strong winds with gusts of up to 29 m/s on April 23 affected 16 settlements in four regions of Belarus. The highest gusts were recorded at the Slauharad weather station in the Mahiliou region, the Emergencies Ministry reported.
Roofs of four residential houses, four social and cultural facilities, one industrial site and seven agricultural buildings were damaged. The Mahiliou region sustained the most damage, with 11 settlements affected.
Across the country, 49 cases of fallen trees were recorded. Falling trees damaged three vehicles in the Homiel and Mahiliou regions, as well as in Minsk. In the Mahiliou region, a tree fell onto railway tracks, causing a delay to a diesel train.
Two people were injured. In Cherykau, a girl born in 2013 was injured by a sheet of roofing slate torn from a dormitory roof. In the agrotown of Dousk in the Rahachou district, a man born in 1966 was injured when a tree fell onto a car near which he was standing. Both victims received medical assistance.
Rescuers carried out cutting and removal of fallen trees, helped dismantle damaged structures and secured hazardous areas. Power outages were addressed by emergency crews. The Emergencies Ministry continues to monitor the situation.
