Security measures will be strengthened and traffic restrictions introduced in Minsk on Friday and Saturday due to several large public events, the Minsk City Executive Committee’s Main Internal Affairs Directorate reported.
On June 5, starting at 7 p.m., traffic restrictions may be imposed on Lenin Street between Internatsyyanalnaya Street and Nemiga Street, as well as on Pobeditelei Avenue between Nemiga Street and Melnikayte Street. The measures are connected with the “Summer Mood” festival. Entry to the festival area will be organized through security checkpoints with screening procedures.
On June 6, the Viva, Rovar 2026 cycling carnival will take place along a route from the Palace of Sports to Minsk Arena and back. Traffic on Pobeditelei Avenue from Lenin Street to Melnikayte Street will be restricted from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while the section from Melnikayte Street to Narachanskaya Street will be closed from 10:50 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., short-term restrictions may also be introduced on Lenin Street and Pobeditelei Avenue. Public transport routes will be adjusted accordingly.
Items prohibited at the events may be left in storage facilities located at 2 and 4 Pobeditelei Avenue.
The police have been placed on heightened alert.
“If necessary, measures will be taken to maintain control of the situation,” the Minsk police said.
