Belarus’s Ministry of Information has updated its “Republican List of Extremist Materials.” Among other things, the list now includes the TikTok account of former political prisoner Aliaksandr Andrushkevich. The decision was made by the Myadzyel District Court of Minsk Region on October 12.

In August 2022, Andrushkevich was found guilty of participating in post-election protests and sentenced to three years of restricted freedom without being sent to an open-type correctional facility. He left Belarus. According to the court schedule, a case concerning the replacement of his restricted-freedom sentence with imprisonment in a penal colony was heard in absentia at the Zavadski District Court of Minsk on October 21, 2024.

In March 2026, Aliaksandr Andrushkevich held a solo protest outside the US Embassy in Vilnius. He sought to persuade the US administration to use its negotiations with Lukashenka to influence the fate of political prisoner Stsiapan Latypau, who had again attempted to take his own life in detention.

The following were also declared “extremist”:

  • The Instagram account # dzenews Дзе навiны?;
  • The Threads account “Oleg Kravchenko”;
  • The «Прыват» group on Odnoklassniki.

It should be noted that extremism charges are used in Belarus to persecute opponents of Lukashenka and dissent in general.
