Two teenagers from Smarhon were tried under an article on aggravated hooliganism for beating an acquaintance and recording a so-called “repentance” video with him.
According to the case materials, on August 4, 2025, intoxicated teenagers aged 16 and 17 “displayed drunken bravado and unjustified aggression” toward a 15-year-old resident of Smarhon.
The 17-year-old defendant grabbed the victim by the throat and struck him in the stomach. The two defendants then seized the 15-year-old by the arms and led him into a basement. There, they beat him with their hands and feet, inflicting at least 18 blows, including to the head. After that, the victim was forced to kneel and apologise, the Hrodna regional prosecutor’s office reported.
Another person recorded the incident on a mobile phone. The edited video was published in a closed Telegram community.
The 16-year-old and 17-year-old were charged with aggravated hooliganism involving violence and characterised by exceptional cynicism. The older defendant was sentenced to two years of so-called “home chemistry”, while the younger received two years in a special educational institution. The verdict has not yet entered into force and may be appealed.
