The Supreme Court of Belarus has found Antanas Geciavicius guilty of committing genocide against the Belarusian people during the Second World War.
Due to his death, the guilty verdict against Antanas Geciavicius was issued without sentencing.

Antanas Geciavicius was born in what is now Lithuania. During the occupation of the BSSR, he led a platoon of the first company of the 12th police battalion. This paramilitary unit carried out punitive operations against civilians. Prosecutors established that Geciavicius was responsible for more than 6,000 victims, including children. After the war, attempts were made to bring him to justice, but without success.
Antanas Geciavicius died in 2001. He was never held accountable.
