Somalia Looks to Cooperation With Belarus in Trade and Investment

On 8 April, Somalia’s non-resident ambassador to Belarus Mohamed Abukar Zubeyr presented copies of his credentials to Belarusian First Deputy Foreign Minister Siarhei Lukashevich.

During the meeting at the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, the sides confirmed their intention to establish constructive and mutually respectful relations between Somalia and Belarus.

“We discussed avenues for developing a new and forward‑looking bilateral partnership, including cooperation in trade and investment, capacity building and technical exchange, education and cultural ties. I expressed Somalia’s readiness to explore joint initiatives that promote economic growth and human development”, Zubeyr wrote on Facebook.

The ambassador expressed hope for close cooperation with the Belarusian Foreign Ministry to discuss specific programs and agreements.
