Vilnius Airport is not the only one affected by smugglers’ weather balloons. According to Delfi, the balloons carrying cigarettes are also causing problems for the operator of Lithuania’s energy system.
Employees of Energijos skirstymo operatorius (ESO) have to remove the balloons from power lines.
“There have been isolated incidents. Usually people inform us about them, and we respond quickly and find the weather balloons already without the contraband,” the portal quoted company staff as saying.
The number of such incidents was not disclosed. It was noted that they have not caused significant damage.
