Six More People Recognised as Political Prisoners in Belarus

Belarusian human rights defenders have recognised six more people as political prisoners: Tatsiana Koniukhava, Anton Makarau, Siarhei Bely, Pavel Hubenka, Siarhei Rybaliou and Viktar Fiodarau, the Viasna Human Rights Center reports.

They have been detained or convicted in connection with interacting with “extremist formations” and exercising their freedom of expression.

As of October 29, 2026, the number of political prisoners in Belarus stands at 890.
