Sheiman Reports To Lukashenka On Africa And High-Tech Projects

Aliaksandr Lukashenka received a report today from his special envoy Viktar Sheiman.

According to Lukashenka’s press service, Sheiman reported “on the implementation of a number of projects related to the real sector of the economy and the development of new high-tech areas.” The specific projects were not disclosed. Lukashenka stressed their importance and relevance.

The next topic of the report was cooperation with African countries. Lukashenka asked how work in this area was progressing. He also reaffirmed his interest in further establishing a presence on the continent.

“What have you done for the country during this time? And secondly, Africa. You are our main person on the far arc, so what is the situation there and what do we need to do, what support and assistance are needed?”

“Because in the near future we will be looking even more closely at Africa. You know what Africa means for any country, especially for ours,” Lukashenka’s press service quotes him as saying.

The previous time Sheiman reported to Lukashenka was in January 2025. At the time, according to the press service, the report focused on Africa and artificial intelligence, including plans to establish new enterprises in Belarus “working, among other things, in the field of artificial intelligence.” Before that, Lukashenka had mentioned AI at a meeting with UAE Minister of Investment Mohammed Hassan Alsuwaidi.

In October last year, Viktar Sheiman and businessman Aliaksandr Zingman attended a meeting with Lukashenka devoted to developing cooperation with Africa.
