Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou met with FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu.
“Particular attention during the talks was paid to sanctions restrictions affecting the export of Belarusian potash fertilisers,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement following the meeting.
Yesterday, Aliaksandr Lukashenka also raised the issue of sanctions during a meeting with the Chinese UN official.
The meeting also focused on cooperation between Belarus and the Food and Agriculture Organization. Ryzhankou stressed the importance of cooperation with the FAO, which provides expert support to Belarus in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries and environmental protection. He expressed hope that a country cooperation programme through 2030 would be agreed soon.
The minister also briefed his guest on Belarus’s cooperation programmes with countries in Asia and Africa. He expressed interest in joining FAO projects and programmes for states in those regions.
