Lithuanian Border Guards Down Drone From Belarus

Lithuanian border guards intercepted a drone arriving from Belarus on Sunday evening, the State Border Guard Service said.

A patrol operating near the village of Tausiūnai heard the sound of a drone, identified the aircraft and deployed counter-drone equipment. Shortly afterwards, the drone disappeared from view.

On Monday afternoon, after a search operation, officers found the damaged drone near the settlement of Joniškis. It was carrying 500 packs of Minsk 5 Superslims cigarettes.

Since the beginning of the year, border guards have already brought down 21 drones used by smugglers.
