Owners of Apple devices in Russia will face additional difficulties from April 1. As RBC reports, the Digital Development Ministry has instructed Russian mobile operators to disable the option of paying for subscriptions and purchases in the Apple ecosystem directly from mobile phone accounts.
The decision had originally been proposed by operators back in 2019-2020, but against the backdrop of Apple’s suspension of operations in the Russian market and sanctions against the financial sector, it has become especially relevant.
According to RBC, one of the reasons given for the ban was the need to prevent payments for VPN services.
It should be recalled that Russia has been steadily expanding the list of blocked Western services, while internet access problems in recent weeks have led some Russians to discuss moving to Belarus on social media, where access to the internet and Western services is significantly better.
